Lost Boy Digital Backpacker:
Stories and images
by Jim Waldron
I was 38, unmarried, childless, debtless, and "between careers." What
better time to escape the regular world and see the rest. This around-the-world
trip, also deemed, "Stickman's Global Bride Search" by my good friends,
commenced on November 25, 1997, and continued for a year or so.
Along the road I carried an Agfa
ePhoto 1280 digital camera and an Apple Newton to record interesting
things along the way. Mostly I griped, but now and then I found myself
in some unexpected, highly-cultural situations.
Stories
The stories break down into three major types
and you can find them on each country's page:
Travel thoughts
from a cynic
Seventeen hours through the desert,
shopping
in Hell, wakeup calls from uniformed men,
not always that fun.
Art and Design along
the way
From Painting Theives, to homeboy
Boat
designers, some cool stuff
Technology of
digital backpacking
I've got 18 pounds of gadgets, way too heavy. Find out my history and
how I use them in this interview from How magazine.
Photographs
Everywhere I go, I make photographs with my Agfa
ePhoto 1280 digital camera supplied by my sponsor.
I download the photos into anyone's computer who allows me, and they end
up here. Most of the photographs are between 50k and 250k, so their loadtime
varies. I've put some of my favorites at the head of each country page.

from country to country, I'll update this site when possible, and because
I'm a very vain man, will do my best to keep it up to date. If you like
what you see, and especially if you want to buy photos or stories, e-mail
